Theo LeGro Scholarship Fund

The Theo LeGro Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Kundiman Mentorship Lab Fellow and Kundiman Retreat Fellow, Theo LeGro, at the request of Theo’s care team, in order to further Theo’s legacy and support the causes that they were passionate about. Theo LeGro was a beloved friend, poet, and community member, and the author of the book of poetry Don’t Let It Kill You, forthcoming from Persea.

This scholarship fund will offer support for queer and disabled writers participating in Kundiman Online Classes and the Kundiman Retreat. A scholarship for a craft class is $50, for an Online Workshop is $300, and for the Retreat is $2,500. Though the tuition fee for our Retreat is $375 (room and board are provided), the full cost of the Retreat for a Retreat scholarship is $2,500.

In 2021, Theo became a Kundiman Mentorship Fellow, and, in 2023, Theo attended their first Kundiman Retreat. In 2024, we had the honor of publishing their poem “All There Is” as part of our 20th Anniversary folio with The Offing.

We are so lucky to be able to spend time with Theo and their ferocious, beautiful, and tender poetry.
