About Team Chenniful

As a Fellow, I attended the Kundiman Retreat in 2014, 2016, and 2019. To me the Retreat was an urgently needed haven—away from all the predominantly white institutional spaces for creative writing. Thanks to the dedicated staff, the deeply imaginative faculty, and my brilliant cohort of Fellows, I felt utterly cared for, I was—in fact!—cherished in ways I didn't know possible. Oh, and there were fantastic meals and fabulous outfits. And karaoke. And learning, so much learning together through being together, through listening to each other read poems and stories, through sharing recipies for stews and strategies for staying alive, staying artists. I believe we need the Retreat and all of the alternative spaces/portals/sobbing-joys that Kundiman offers more than ever. Please join Team Chenniful in any way you can—by donating (any amount!) this month, by becoming a recurring donor, by sharing this campaign with your best friends, weirdest frenemies, tenderest tortoises. 

Your donation will fund tuition and room and board for Fellows attending the upcoming Retreat. The Retreat is a transformative experience that provides AAPI writers an opportunity to hone their craft while building community. While Fellows only pay $375 for tuition, the true cost to host each writer, including room and board, is $2,500. This team goal is set to $2,500 with the aim of covering a full scholarship to ease the financial burden of this life-changing experience.
