Rishona Michael / End of Year Giving

Kundiman creates a space where Asian Americans can explore, through art, the unique challenges that face the new and ever changing diaspora. We see the arts as a tool of empowerment, of education and liberation, and of addressing proactively the legacy we will leave for our future.

As some may know, I have joined the Kundiman team recently as their Poetry Coalition Fellow and have been focusing on development work for the team. It's been a wonderful experience working with such a genuine team. Their intentions behind everything they do, from readings aimed to provide a third space for the community, to online classes aimed to support early writers looking for affordable help in their craft and past Fellows with opportunities to teach.

Spaces such as Kundiman are so important for Asian American and Pacific Islander writers who may not feel like they belong. And with so many DEI programs being defunded, it's important we give to programs we want to see thrive. My goal is to raise $1,000 for Kundiman from now until Dec 31st, the end of the year! I would love to help where I can, and I’m so grateful for my community who is able to help me reach this goal.
